  • Central Infant and Nursery School

    Inspected November 16th 2022 - GOOD

    There is a strong sense of community in this school. Pupils experience an ethos of care, kindness and calm. Pupils trust the adults in the school and know that they are there to help them. Pupils feel safe and know that it is important for them to help other pupils feel safe too. They look for opportunities to help each other in classrooms and around school. Pupils talk about how important it is to have ‘kind hands, kind feet and kind words’. Pupils talk about the school ‘promises’ and how these help them to make good choices in classrooms and about how they treat other people. They understand that all people deserve to be treated equally.

    Bullying rarely happens in this school. Pupils recognise what bullying is and what it is not. They know that if bullying did happen, adults would sort it out. Some pupils who find behaviour more challenging are skilfully supported. Pupils move around school calmly. Relationships between adults and pupils are respectful and positive.

  • Stubings Infant and Nursery School

    Inspected June 22nd 2022 - GOOD

    Pupils say that Stubbings Infant School is a positive and fun place in which to learn. This confident outlook is shared by the pupils and was experienced by the inspection team. In this small school, pupils get to know each other well. Staff know pupils exceptionally well and respond to their individual needs with great care.

    Staff and parents both report that there is no bullying. Pupils told inspectors that sometimes a few pupils are unkind but that their teachers always deal with the situation well. Kindness is promoted at this school. As such, pupils reflect positively on the kindness of others in school. There is a well-considered approach to help pupils to manage their own behaviour and reactions. This helps them to understand their emotions well.

    Parents are very positive about the school. All those who responded to Ofsted’s survey, Ofsted Parent View, would recommend the school. They comment on its caring ethos and sense of community. One parent summed up the feelings of many in saying, ‘I think Stubbings is a really lovely, welcoming school. Staff are friendly and approachable. They care very deeply about the pupils.’

  • Riverside Junior School

    Inspected October 15th 2024 - GOOD

    Riverside is a caring and friendly school where parents and pupils feel happy and included. Strong relationships create a warm and supportive atmosphere. Teamwork plays a key role in the school community, making it a wonderful place for learning.

    The school equips pupils with essential skills to stay safe in today’s world. Engaging assemblies address important topics like online safety and local water safety. These lessons are impactful, helping pupils grasp how to navigate various situations safely.

    The school promotes a positive behaviour culture. Pupils speak politely to adults and each other, especially during group work. The school has introduced a new approach to breaktimes. This encourages teamwork and fun activities. All pupils behave exceptionally well during these times. They collaborate well with their friends, including pupils from the resourced provision, which is integrated into school life. The focus of the school and this positive environment have helped improve attendance. Pupils grow in confidence at this school.

    The school focuses on helping pupils succeed in all subjects. Pupils do well in mathematics. The school prioritises the work needed to ensure pupils achieve the same level of success in other subjects. The school promotes a love of learning for all pupils.
